Extended Learning Time Tutoring (after school tutoring for NYC)
Our ELT blended learning services currently offer the best of two tutorials in the same setting: classroom face-to-face and online. Using the school's computers our classroom certified instructors (or the school's teachers) and online instructors will tutor all school specified students including ELL Spanish speaking students and Special Ed students in grades 3-12 in the subjects of English/ELA, Math or both. Our classes are offered during the school day, after school and during vacation and summer sessions. The tutoring begins with an online initial assessment and based on the test results followed by the generation of a customized curriculum. The classroom instructor will provide necessary academic support in a real time environment and the online instructor will be responsible for critical online feedback. The students will work on their own curriculum at their own pace and the classroom instructor will assist with motivation to help maintain a high level of activity and engaged students along with high attendance rates.
The classroom instructors are supported not only by our office staff but with frequent monitored visits and evaluations and the overall goal will be to have 90% of the assigned students in each classroom group achieve mastery level (70%) of subjects they are found to have weaknesses. Acadamia’s online courseware programs are scientific research-based learning instructional programs and it consists of NY Common Core State Standard content supported by an extensive instructional management system. The content addresses reading, writing and mathematics for third through twelfth grades containing over 6,000 lessons with over 100,000 exercises, and representing over 6,700 hours of instruction. Written progress reports for each student will be provided to the schools and to the parents to encourage their support.
ACT Test Preparation
Acadamia’s ACT Test Prep program is modeled after an extremely successful and proven curriculum where 97% of the students that have enrolled in this program have increased their ACT scores. Not only that 65% of the kids have increased their score by 3 points or higher....yes, that's 3 points! Classes are generally split into English/Reading and Math/Science subjects and are taught by knowledgeable and engaging instructors whose focus is to motivate and educate. Currently we offer classroom courses in both the Detroit metropolitan area and St. Paul/Mpls metropolitan area and start at only $299 for a seven week, 23-hour course. In addition, we offer One-on-One courses and we also have a very effective and affordable small group live online course that can be provided to the student in the comfort of their home. Feel free to call our office for pricing or details.
Acadamia's K-12 online curriculum is delivered to the student either in the convenience of their home or at their school. Over the years we have found that, due to the structure, our program is most effective when administered at the child's school. Through collaboration and training of a hired school teacher or paraprofessional to supervise the students in a school's computer lab the kids excel at Acadamia's curriculum and make substantial progress from our customized program. Starting with an assessment test we will determine a starting point followed by the generation of a curriculum and with this approach we can establish a classroom with kids ranging in grades from first to fifth grade all supervised by one adult (for groups less than 10). Detailed progress reports are sent to parents and the schools to keep all stakeholders apprised. Our program is also designed to qualify for the federally funded Extended Learning Time (ELT) now required for some schools based on state approved waivers. Our GED online courseware is a series of comprehensive assessments that test students in the five GED subject areas: Language Arts (Reading and Writing), Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics. Our pretests for GED competency pinpoint individual student skill deficiencies and automatically assign lessons that teach those skills. After students progress through the lesson material in a self-paced environment, the post-tests measure and record academic gains, indicating whether students are prepared to take the GED exam. All questions on the tests are aligned to the GED test objectives. Feel free to call our office for pricing or details.
Assisting middle and high school students who have failed or are at risk of failing a course can be quite a challenge. The backbone of Acadamia’s online credit recovery courseware is a series of comprehensive assessments that test students in five core curricular subject areas - Mathematics, Literature and the Arts, Writing, Science, and Social Sciences. Pretests pinpoint individual student skill deficiencies and automatically assign lessons that teach those skills. After students progress through the self-paced lesson material, post-tests measure and record academic gains, indicating whether students have displayed mastery of the lesson material. Our courseware uses the proven instructional format of study, practice test, mastery test, and essay (or constructed response) to prepare students for the recovery of course credit or the prevention of course failure. Hi Mr. Becker,
I was recently enrolled in your 6 week long course at Stoney Creek high school in Rochester, MI. I am writing to you about Amanda Chappell, my instructor for English/Reading. Previously taking your helpful class, I received a 23, 25, 25, and 25 on the ACT. I hated it! My goal was to get higher than a 27 when I first started off Junior year. After being disappointed many times, I signed up for your class. Mrs. Chappell is a wonderful instructor! I had a 25 on English previously and a 20 on Reading. In order for my score to go up, I needed basically 5 points each on both. She thoroughly explained every English rule and gave me her cell so whenever I had questions when studying, I could text her them. 10 o'clock at night or 7 in the morning she would answer my questions. On my June ACT, I earned a 29 on English. Reading was more challenging and it didn't help that my schedule interfered with the class. Mrs. Chappell sent me online courses where I could make up my work. She was very easy going about my changing schedule. As I said reading wasn't easy, but with her CPR method and Touchdown method I earned a 25 on reading. 5 points better!! I wanted to let you know how great of a teacher she is and how wonderful of a program you have. It helps students like me improve my score, love the Act, and enjoy taking them all at the same time!!
Thank you again! She's awesome!!
